Cache

A cache is a store of something in order to save it from being generated again unecessarily

Canonical Keyword

The arrangement of indiviudual words in a keyphrase in alphabetical rather than semantic order.

CGI

CGI is a dynamic method (usually using the Perl language) to generate web pages and run scripts at a server.

CGI-Bin

The cgi-bin is a location on a web server where CGI scripts reside

cHTML

cHTML is a subset of HTML specifically for limited internet access devices such as portable telephones.

Clickthrough

A clickthrough describes the action of a user clicking on a link and being transported to the new URL

Clickthrough Rate

The clickthrough rate is the ratio of clickthroughs to the numebr of times a link is viewed.

Client Side

Client side refers to events or code occuring in a browser (or search engine)

Cloaking

Cloaking is the process of selecting what content to display depending on who is looking.

CMS

A CMS is a system used to allow non-technical website administrators to update a website content without recourse to HTML

Cold Fusion

Cold Fusion is a server-side coding language

Comment Tags

Comment tags are primarily used to help developers bug-fix scripting or HTML swiftly.

Comparison Shopping

Compariosn shopping sites are products based search engines, which usually allow catalogue submission.

Content

Content is a general term used to describe the information contained within a website.

Contextual Advertising

Sponsored links that appear next to related non-search-engine-generated content, such as news article.

Conversion Rate

This is a ratio of the visitors that have converted to sales

Cookie

A cookie is a small file that a website might ask a browser to save in order to store a variable.

Cost Per Acquisition

The cost per aquisition is the cost for every sale or registration that your site makes.

Cost Per Click

The price an advertiser pays each time a user clicks on a sponsored link.

CPM

CPM (Cost Per Mille) is the cost for one thousand impressions of something.

Crawlers

Crawlers are the bits of software used by search engines to read your website during indexing.

CSS

A language used to describe the presentation of a document.

Custom Error Page

A custom error page is a designed specifically for a website to use in place of a browsers standard error page.
