Opera

Opera was first released for Windows systems in 1997. Since then Opera has become established in embedded systems applications such as smartphones, PDAs, set-top-boxes and smart-phones.

The current desktop version of Opera (version 9.02) supports all current major standards (CSS 2.1, XHTML 1.1, HTML 4.01, WML 2.0, ECMAScript, DOM 2 and SVG 1.1 basic) and offers features including email and bit-torrent clients, download manager and an rss reader which are all integrated into the browser. The functionality can be further exteded by user-developed small applications called 'Widgets'.
