PageRank - Link Popularity

PageRank is Google's scoring mechanism for determining a sites' importance by 'link popularity'.

Links to a website essentially count as votes, although no vote is equal as each carries a proportion of the PageRank of the page on which the link appears to the page being linked to. That proportion is based on the denominator number of links on the page on which the original link appears.
