SGML - Standard Generalized Markup Language

SGML (Standard Generalized Markup Language) is a standardised structure for ducumentation.

It is used to denote headings, paragraphs, etc and helps give structure and meaning to otherwise ambiguous documentation. HTML and XML are specific extensions of conceptual SGML. HTML defines web-document structure, XML defines data-structure.
