Keyword Stuffing

What is keyword stuffing

Keyword stuffing ; AKA keyword loading, spamdexing or invisible keyword stuffing.

Keyword Stuffing is an unethical Search Engine optimization technique use to get a web page to rank well in a search engine.

Search engines scan and count the words used in the Content and meta areas of webpages. The more times a keyword appears on the web page, greater Relevance is assigned to the page for those words or phrases; up to a point. Using a keyword over and over again may trigger spam filters and can result in web sites being Banned or penalised by search engines.

Common Keyword stuffing methods include repeating keywords within the input type="hidden" field or the keyword meta tag so that the keywords are scanned by the search engines but hidden to the user.

The most common keyword stuffing technique is invisible text, or hidden text. Making the font colour the same color as the page's background colour renders the text invisible to the user. Invisible text can be found easily if the user highlights the text, use the keyboard shortcut ctrl+5 to highlight text. This method is also known as invisible keyword stuffing.

An over optimized page constantly repeating the same phrase may attract traffic, but it will not convince visitors to use its services. Keyword stuffing may work on some search engines for a time, but eventually the search engines will pick up on it and the page will be dropped from the index.
