UK Search Engines - Google
The name 'Google' is derived from the word 'googol', referring to the number represented by 1 followed by 100 zeros. Google came from the humble surroundings of one of Google's founders bedrooms' Larry Paige, the other founder being Sergey Brin. The two Stanford University students invested in a Terabyte of disk space and set up Google's first datacenter.
It has been reported that roughly 56% of worldwide searches (the majority) are carried out via Google. This could be put down to its accessibility and user-friendliness.
